The purpose of this Visitor Centre is to briefly illustrate the historical and cultural aspects of the Park territory, with particular regard to memories of Dante and Tuscan Romagna, and then to the centuries of Florentine domination on the Romagna side of the Apennines. Inside the structure, an interactive model highlights the sites of the main naturalistic and historical and artistic manifestations. The Visitor Centre is divided into three sections: "The structure of the territory and the use of spontaneous resources", which explains the geological formations of the territory; "The human settlement and care for the forest" dedicated above all to the monastic settlements, including the one of the Romiti and San Benedetto in Alpe; "The territory, between conservation and exploitation" developing the theme of forest management.

From the village of S. Benedetto you can take the "The valley and the waterfall of Dante" Nature Trail leading along the Acquacheta valley to the waterfall of the same name, mentioned by Dante in the 16th canto of the Inferno. In the Marradi area there is the Badia del Borgo monastic complex, founded in 1205, and the Hermitage of Gamogna, founded by S. Pier Damiani in 1053. The Hermitage of S. Maria is located in an extremely panoramic position, and can be reached along the forest trail that starts from the Muraglione state road, and then reaches Acquacheta.
