This is the only inhabited centre of the upper valley of the Rabbi, in the middle of a solitary and wild territory. The village is characterized by a fortified medieval nucleus, dominated by the castle of the Counts Guidi. Some particularly interesting sights are the small villages scattered in the folds of the wooded landscape, such as Castel dell'Alpe and Fiumicello, the large stone houses, the oratories, and the old mills.
